How to Become a Media Leader
Would you like to help monitor, respond to, and encourage media coverage of
clean indoor air? Would you like to learn about media relations and build your
resume? Are you ready to take on a leadership role?
Consider becoming a SmokeFreeOhio Media Leader. We'll supply you with training
and support to promote the coverage of a Smoke-Free Ohio and smoke-free public
places and workplaces in your community.
Training
As a Media Leader, you will be invited to a special training where you'll learn
key messages for clean indoor air, how to write press releases, contact the
media, and hold press events. In addition, you'll receive a monthly newsletter
that will include tips for generating media coverage and will also allow us to
share our successes with each other.
Get Media, Get Stuff!
Once you're getting media coverage of clean indoor air in your community, we
will reward your hard work! You can get fun prizes for the number of media
mentions you generate!
What It's Really About
Most importantly, you will play a crucial part in helping protect people from
the illness and death caused by secondhand smoke exposure. The media can
contact many more people than we can through newsletters, events, and emails.
Because of this long reach, the media can be a powerful partner in getting out
the message that everyone in Ohio deserves to breathe clean indoor air.
